Welcome to Westwoodside Church of England Academy Trust
We are a small stand alone Church of England Academy situated between Scunthorpe and Doncaster. We are a good school and have a reputation for supporting children academically and also in terms of their social, emotional and physical development so that they develop as well-rounded young people.
The majority of our children join us from the local village but a small number travel from outlying villages such as Misson, Beckingham, Misterton, Haxey, Epworth and others. We admit children to our small, friendly nursery in the term after they have turned 3. Admission to main school follows in the year after a child turns 4.
I would like to take this opportunity to warmly welcome you to Westwoodside Church of England Primary Academy's website.
I am enormously proud to be the Headteacher at Westwoodside. We are a happy, optimistic and inclusive school where everyone is welcome. We aim for every children to be able to 'shine like a light' as they grow and develop skills, knowledge and attitudes which will prepare them for future learning and for life. Our motto, 'Believe and Achieve - Learn and Grow', reflects our strong church school community in which we nurture and support all our children whilst having the highest ambitions for them. We work together as a dedicated, hardworking staff team and aim to provide a rounded education underpinned by Christian values: respect, love, compassion, friendship, perseverance and honesty which bring out the very best in every child.
I am proud of our wonderful children who constantly amaze me with their talent and enthusiasm, as well as their behaviour, engagement and involvement. Increasingly our children take responsibilty for different roles in school and through their actions reach out to the local community and wider world e.g through creating Christmas hampers for the local food bank and encouraging everyone to reduce the use of plastics.
All parents want their child to be happy, secure and have the best possible start to their education. We want exactly the same for all of our children and strive to provide a stimulating and exciting environment which fosters high expectations and aspirations.
We know that the more parents are engaged in their child’s learning the greater their achievement so we actively work in partnership with you to help you to support your child.
If you are thinking about joining our school please do take the opportunity to call in and visit us to see our school in action - appointments can be arranged by calling the school office.
This is a very exciting time for Westwoodside Church of England Academy's community as we blossom as a school. If you would like to know what we are doing to develop further then please have a look at our development plan.
We look forward to meeting your soon.
Miss June Richardson
