World Book Day
Dear Parent/ Carer
WORLD BOOK DAY
To celebrate World Book day on Thursday 1st March, your child is invited to bring a favourite book into school to share with their class. In addition we are holding a non-uniform day. Children may dress as a book character of their choice. Some children may wish to try to reflect our ‘Let’s get healthy theme’ in their costume choice. Ideas include: the Demon Dentist, The Healthy Wolf, The Hungry Caterpillar etc.
FIND OUT HOW WE TEACH READING IN SCHOOL
On Friday 2nd March we are holding a special open morning from 9.10 – 10 am. This will focus on how we teach reading in school. There will be a presentation in the school hall at 9.10 for approximately 20 minutes followed by time to see reading activities taking place in classes. There will also be ideas shared about how you can best support your child with reading.
Mr S McKay
Thank you 'Lions Clubs International'
Today Richard Baker (Isle of Axholme Lions Club President) visited school to present each class with brand new digital devices to support children to record their learning.
Digital cameras and other devices are used widely in school to capture learning e.g. recording practical work; supporting and motivating learners e.g. children write and record a presentation about the Romans. Digital devices also provide a record of experiences in school to share with parents and the wider community.
The children were delighted to receive the cameras and said, 'It will be lovely to have reliable devices to record our special moments in school.'
Thank you for supporting Harvest Festival
What a fantastic turnout to support the children as they led our Harvest Festival service today. A big thank you to Rev. Green, Mr Taylor and Mr Wilkinson who supported us to. Thank you to everyone who donated food for our local Isle of Axholme Food bank - every little contribution really does make a difference!
There is always something special happening at our school, have a look at our recent photographs to see what we do.
